U14's beat Bridge
The second meeting of the season of these teams had Courtown looking to reverse a 4-0 defeat to Bridge Rovers on the opening day of the season. The conditions at Ounavarra park were less than suitable at kick off with wind and rain but Hibs got off to a flier through Evan Roche in the first minute when he latched on to a beautifully weighted pass from Lee Doyle and rounded the Rovers Keeper to slot in to the net and take the lead for the home side, Both teams worked really hard and matched each other all over the pitch, Hibs keeper Luke McDonough being called into action on a number of occasions. Hibs doubled their lead half way through the first half against the run of play when Pauric Baxter passed to Eoghan Carrol inside the opposition area, who tucked the ball away with great precision. Bridge dominated for large spells from then with Cailem Kirwan and Lee Doyle putting their bodies on the line time after time to keep the 2 Goal lead. Right on the stroke of half time Bridge made a break through and scored when a shot was palmed down by Hibs keeper and scored on the rebound to see the score at 2-1 on half-time. Bridge started strongly in the second half and maintained pressure on Hibs, but again they kept there nerve and showed a great determination and discipline to stop the chances from turning to goals. Hibs second half keeper Kenny Robertson was kept busy but keeping the clean sheet until the end for Hibs to grab all 3 points on the day. A really tough game which showed another strong and resilient side to the squad, all players performing well to get the result. Notable defensive and consistent performances from Lee Doyle, Cailem Kirwan and Leon Stafford.
