U14 Boys win in Cup
In the first round of the Nicky O'Brien cup, the under 14s faced an away fixture to division 2 leaders Shelbourne in Ballywilliam this afternoon. Hibs took control of the game from the first whistle and dominated the play with Tom Hernandez and Jude Stafford pulling all the strings in the midfield. Hibs took the lead when Evan Roche cooled slotted home from close range. Cailem Kirwan then doubled the lead with a powerful header from a well flighted corner. 2 - 0 the half time score. In the second half it was more of the same with Hibs keeper Luke McDonough having very little to do. Padhraic Baxter then added to the scoring when he rounded the Shels keeper. Jude Stafford completed the scoring when Cailem Kirwan was adjudged to have been fouled in the box and awarded a penalty, Which took 3 attempts to score after the shels keeper made 2 great saves only for Jude to persist and slot the ball away. A really great performance from all players today. Outstanding performances from Tom Hernandez, Paddy Blood and Evan Roche to name a few. A home draw versus local rivals Gorey Rangers B in the next round awaits
