Womens fine form continues
Ladies team played away in Piltown in a tricky fixture Sunday morning. Hibs came out of the flying putting a young Piltown side under early pressure. Marian Cardiff opened the scoring with a smart finish as she latched on't a half chance from the edge of the box and intelligently lifted the ball over the keeper and nestling under the crossbar 1:0. Piltown mounted a come back but a solid back 4 in Hibs defence managed to keep the home side at bay. Hibs kept pressing and after a series of corners saw Sonia Redmond slot home Hibs second on 37". Marian added a third for Hibs who were down to 10 as Lauren came off with a swollen knee, on the stroke of half time. Sarah Lynch went up front to join Marian and Piltown back 4 were always struggling to keep with the interchanging play with the midfield and front two constantly combining and always threatening. Aoife Gleeson and Sonia Redmond dominated the central Midfield and drove the away team forward at every chance. Marian had a shot disallowed after a soft free kick was awarded against Erin Carroll on the edge of the box thundered home from Marian, but she sion got the hat trick scoring her third on 55" . Hibs began emptying the bench and always looked in control with Leoni Gleeson and Gina Kavanagh driving everyone on. A smashing team effort from all 15 players today.
