A team off to a flyer against Moyne

Our first team played at home today v a very strong Moyne Rangers team.

With several players making their first team and club Debut and still missing several lads through injury our men set about kicking off the season on a positive note.

Moyne started the better pushing for a fast start with our defense standing firm.

On the 7th min James “Billy” Byrne bent a screamer pass Pa Doyle in the Moyne goal from outside the box. The game was end to end for 10 min with both teams then the Hibs counter attacked with a quick throw in Cillian Gilligan isolated himself v the Moyne center half along the end line to skip by him and square the ball to the energetic Billy to get his second.

The pace of the game was not letting up with both teams playing good football. The Moyne had started to put pressure on our backs and in the 42nd min got a goal for the hard work.

Half time

Hibs came out in the second half like a rocket with some more fine play from James Flynn and Matty Kavanagh the ball was played up field which was intercepted by Moyne center half but pressure from Cillian lead to the ball Breaking for a one on one with The huge figure of Pa Doyle ! Cillian kept a cool head and he calmly slotted the ball under the keeper to make it 3-1.

Hibs were rocking - and could have scored another and kept pressing from the front with the impressive Cillian and Billy duo causing problems for the Moyne back four! Then it happened Billy got his third goal ! On the 70th min !!

Moyne pressed and changed shape to go direct and it worked as they created a few chances with Jason in the goal making some top saves.

On the 75th min Moyne got a goal which looked to be offisde.

Hibs settled in to a defensive shape looking to weather the storm and look to catch Moyne on counter which could have worked Bar for some great defending by moyne.

James Flynn was impressive in midfield winning tackle after tackle and driving at the Moyne back four.

On the 85 min Moyne had a corner and resulted in 2 Hibs lads going to clear the ball with nether doing it and Moyne took this chance to make it 4-3

Hibs defended well with Trev Brennan making some excellent challenges

Hibs won out 4-3
